TYC Work Day
with Drew Carlyle
We'll conclude our summer series and abandon our regular Saturday morning race to host a "Lunch & Learn" for members to discuss topics surrounding boat handling, sail trim, rigging etc. This month we are doing something a little different.
Special guest speaker, Drew Carlyle, grew up sailing at TYC. He currently works in Australia for a sailboat builder called Australian High Performance Catamarans, or AHPC. He manages production of everything that goes on the boats that aren't sails; masts, beams, tillers, cross bars, etc. He also oversees all of the shipping for the boats going overseas and assembly of all local boats.
He's been sailing as often as possible, mostly in Australia. Most recently he won a match racing event on catamarans put on by the local yacht club and then came 4th at the formula 16 national championships. Coming home late summer and fall, he'll be in America to compete in the formula 18 world championships in September.
The club will provide lunch so come out for some fun & fellowship plus what a great opportunity to sharpen your sailing skills.
RSVP on the discussion page and submit any questions and topics you'd like to see covered.
